If only the Virgin Queen were so lucky.

On the red carpet for the Sydney premiere of her film, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Cate Blanchett confirmed that she and playwright-hubby, Andrew Upton, are expecting their third little bundle of joy next spring.

"Yes, yes, we're expecting a baby in April which is very exciting," the Oscar-winning Aussie told reporters.

No word whether it's a boy or girl, though if it's the latter, they might want to consider redecorating the nursery. That's because the couple already has two sons, 5-year-old Dashiell John, and 3-year-old Roman Robert.

The pregnancy news comes at a pretty good time for Blanchett.

The 38-year-old thesp and her partner will be close to home as they begin their three-year tenure as joint artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company, the country's largest theater troupe, in January.

As for film projects, Blanchett recently wrapped her role opposite Harrison Ford in the highly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, swinging into theaters on May 22, 2008. She also finished filming David Fincher's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's romantic fantasy tale, The Curious Care of Benjamin Button, with Brad Pitt.

Last but not least, the only thing else remaining in the pipeline is lending her voice to the part of Mrs. Fox alongside George Clooney's Mr. Fox in Wes Anderson's upcoming animated comedy, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, based on the Roald Dahl novel.

Meanwhile, in related baby news, 26-year-old pop princess Christina Aguilera finally confirmed in an interview with Glamour magazine rumors that she and 30-year-old music executive husband Jordan Bratman are expecting their first child together.
